All skill levels welcome! In this course students will build their own 4-material transition in ceramic and glass as they explore the basic tools (nippers, trowel), elements (pieces, adhesive, substrate), and processes (cutting, shaping, setting) of mosaic.
Students will choose from a selection of ceramic and accent glass, cut quantities of various shapes and sizes, arrange them on a template, and finally transfer their mosaic piece by piece into cement mortar on a substrate.
About Kelley Knickerbocker
An award-winning mosaic artist since 2005, with an aesthetic steeped in materials analysis and innovation, Kelley began teaching her unique blend of contemporary and classically-influenced mosaic techniques in 2009. She’s known worldwide for her unordinary work and her enthusiastic, inventive, yet technically-grounded approach to teaching that regularly moves students beyond their own creative expectations.
