Blend In – Stand Out
by Gamze Seckin
October 2-25
This October, our resident artist, Gamze Seckin, explores the tension between the desire to belong and the urge to be unique in her painting series “Blend In – Stand Out.” The foundation of her work stems from an age-old conflict: the pursuit of belonging can silence individuality, while the quest for individuality can lead to isolation. Gamze depicts figures that both blend into their surroundings and stand out in unexpected ways, embodying a sense of both belonging and isolation. She asks her viewers: “Where do you find yourself in this tension?”
