Welcome to the Original Seattle Neighborhood – rich in history, arts, culture, and food!
Join us for the opening reception of Caryn Friedlander’s solo exhibition “When Water Becomes Light.”
In her new body of work, Caryn Friedlander reflects on memory and transformation with works that evoke the shifting patterns and quiet beauty of water in motion. The exhibition includes large-scale wall-hung textiles made from silk, hand-dyed with natural indigo, as well as pastel and charcoal drawings on paper. Friedlander holds an MFA in painting and an MA in East Asian art history from the University of Washington, is a former Monbusho Fellow in Japan, and was recently honored with a 2025 Artist Trust SOLA Award recognizing her lifelong dedication to art.
