Welcome to the Original Seattle Neighborhood – rich in history, arts, culture, and food!
Blending formline with contemporary pop and sci-fi visual language, Jeffrey Veregge’s Constellation debuts anthropomorphized interpretations of each planet in our solar system, expanding his “Salish Geek” approach to storytelling, Indigenous futurism as a genre, and acting as a culminating expression of themes that shaped Veregge’s practice and beloved works for decades. This special exhibit is comprised of some of the final works he created before his passing — originally intended for exhibition at Stonington Gallery back in 2024.
Rendered with visually bold, high-contrast color and his personal interpretation of their forms inspired by the extreme conditions of outer space, these works reflect Jeffrey Veregge’s lifelong fascination with aviation, aeronautics, science fiction, and cosmic exploration. Drawing upon the visual logic of classic comic book character design and decades of refinement within his distinctive practice, he reimagines the planets as techno-mythic beings — embodiments of flight, futurism, and the vast unknown — but grounded by the familiar visual vocabulary of contemporary Coast Salish shape and design.
